OUR STORY
In 2021, a group of farmers in Balasore, Odisha, united with a shared vision to transform agriculture in their region. Facing challenges like low yields, limited market access, and dependency on middlemen, they founded the Purva Baleswar 4S4R Farmer Producer Co-operative Society Ltd. (Registration No: 1418/BLSDT24.09.2021) in Karanjia, Remuna Block. Supported by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), and funded by the Department of Agriculture Co-operation and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, the cooperative was born to empower small and marginal farmers.
Inspired by the 4S4R framework—Seed, Soil, Sowing, and Reaping—the society began by promoting sustainable practices, providing quality inputs, and fostering collective farming.
Starting with training programs and resource-sharing initiatives, it grew into a platform for innovation, leveraging NRRI’s research to enhance productivity. Today, based at Rukmani Raghunath Kutira, the cooperative connects farmers to fair markets, promotes climate-resilient agriculture, and builds a self-reliant community. Our journey reflects resilience, collaboration, and a commitment to uplifting Balasore’s farmers for a sustainable future.
